Picture this: you're the proud owner of a Tesla Model S, the best electric vehicle around. A few months have passed since you took delivery of the luxurious sedan, and you're thinking about adding some more specialness to your Model S. Which tuner do you ring for more visual drama on such a specialized machine?
Unplugged Performance might be the outfit to float your boat. Dubbed "the world’s first tuning company with a focus exclusively on the Tesla Model S," Unplugged Performance was founded in 2013 in Hawthorne, California. The location basically makes Unplugged Performance the neighbor of Tesla Motors' design center. And if you pay the right price, these guys can really hike the appeal of a Model S.

See that aggressive looking front fascia? It's not only a simple redesign of the original

The carbon fiber and careful sculpting adds both image and function to the mix. And the best thing about it is that Unplugged Performance engineered it in such a way is uses all the factory mounting points and hardware. The only downside is, of course, the price - the full package, which includes the FRP and carbon fiber grille, lip spoiler and diffuser, as well as carbon ducts will set you back a $6,995.

Then there's the killer 21-inch BBS wheel pack which is priced at $3,995. Bundled in the UP-01 package you also get rim protectors, BBS center caps and four Tesla center caps with BBS adapters. The cool thing about those protectors is that if you happen to hit a curb, the extra wheel protectors can be replaced in less than 5 minutes with no tools. The manufacturing process uses the flow-formed technology employed for the alloys fitted to the Ferrari F430 Challenge track-focused monster.

For the cabin, Unplugged Performance offers limitless customization possibilities. The car picture is virtually a sea of Alcantara and microfiber, carbon fiber and a lot of contrasting stitching. Maybe the pictured Model S is a bit overboard with the carbon fiber fetish, but it's pretty special nonetheless. Oh, and those carbon fiber bucket seats, don't they look just magnificent? If interior personalization isn't your cup of tea, then you might be better off with the "affordable" $1,250 carbon fiber trunk spoiler.
