Tesla Model S Tuned by Unplugged Performance Looks Rakish

In the world of zero emissions automobiles, there aren't a lot of companies there to offer owners the ability to customize their tree hugging rides. But with an upmarket electric vehicle such as the Tesla Model S, there are a couple of firms that offer a limited number of mod jobs. Today we're going to talk about a little enterprise called Unplugged Performance.

Located on Hawthorne Avenue, California next to a Supercharger station, this firm describes itself as being "the world’s first tuning company with a focus exclusively on the Tesla Model S." Engineers use a P85 variant of the electric sedan for development and testing, similar to the one we reviewed a little while back. So what does this company offer?

Well, the most basic body kit goes for $5,890, while the full carbon fiber treatment will set you back a tad under $8k. But you can also buy parts that make up the styling pack individually. A rakish front spoiler and diffuser system look ballistic on the Tesla Model S, while other visual sauce includes a rear under spoiler and diffuser system, trunk spoiler, wide side skirts and a complete front fascia redo like the one fitted to the silver Tesla Model S pictured above.

Unplugged Performance tells that these modifications haven't been developed just to show off at your local Supercharger station, but also have a whiff of functionality to it, maintaining factory levels of ground clearance for everyday use. From any angle you look at it, the finished product looks like it means business, enhancing the overall appearance of the rather beautiful Tesla Model S luxury electric sedan.

If you only want the supercar-like front fascia, you should be aware that Unplugged Performance is currently taking pre-order $1,000 deposits for it, without mentioning the final price.
