Tesla Model S Spanks New E63 Wagon in Drag Race, M760Li Is Actually Very Fast

What do you know, the M760Li is a top drag race performer! We really didn't see that coming, but everything else happening in this video is exactly as expected: the Tesla Model S P100D is faster than anything that's not a supercar, but only just.

It's sort of a weird lineup we have here, as the all-new E63 S is present in wagon form, which is marginally more burdensome than the sedan. But that just helps settle the dispute with the RS6.

If you want a fast V8-powered super-wagon, the E63 is now a better pick than the famous Audi. Not only does it go faster in a straight line, but it can also be used to destroy the rear tires.

You can watch the 360-degree video shot from the RS6 if you want to see how bad it's loosing. It's a horsepower thing, not the traction or the launch, though the gear changes do appear to be a little be better on the AMG.

The Mercedes family car from hell is given a fair run for its money by the BMW contender. In the absence of the new M5, Carwow borrowed a pretty unlikely drag race champion. The M760Li is not a true M car, though that doesn't matter when all it has to do is go straight. Using its V12 engine with ample reserves of power and torque, it makes mincemeat of the Audi.

Unlike in all the American drag races, the P100D Tesla Model S had trouble putting its power down off the line. However, it still managed to pull ahead of all the V8 and V12 German machines. The video also contains a rolling race where its instant throttle response and lack of gearing become crushing advantages.

What we can't forget is that one of these high-spec EVs costs £129,400 in Britain. So actually, it costs about as much as the BMW 7 Series uber-luxury flagship and noticeably more than the wagons.
