Welcome to the future, where we have flying cars, as the video at the bottom of the page can attest. It’s CCTV footage released by the Barrie Police in Ontario, Canada, and will be used in court as evidence against the driver.
That’s a Tesla Model S flying through the air – and then crashing. Hard. The cameras didn’t capture the full impact of the crash, only the disastrous landing.
In a statement, Barrie Police say that the car was being driven by a 46-year-old man at very high speeds, as you might have guessed from the vid. The “demolished 2016 four-door Tesla” was found about 100 feet from the place where it landed, where it crashed into a tree in the parking lot of a nearby school.
“A further investigation determined the vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Little Avenue prior to the crash. When the vehicle crossed the steep incline leading up to the railway tracks, just north of Huronia Road, the vehicle became airborne and crashed over 100 feet into the opposing lane. The impact of the crash forced the vehicle to skid across the roadway and hit a tree in a nearby school parking lot,” the police report says.
The driver and the passenger were rushed to the hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released. Luckily, no other car or human was involved in the crash – and it’s a good thing they weren’t, because the results would have been terrible.
As the tweet below say (also from the Barrie Police), stunts like this only look cool in movies. In real life, they never have a happy ending. Because, you know, physics.
“The driver was charged with dangerous driving, and is due to appear in court on October 1,” the report further notes.

It may look "cool" and like something from out of the movies, but in reality the action of this driver put many lives at risk, including his own. He now faces Criminal Charges and will appear in court in October. https://t.co/J4z8x4ehQr https://t.co/bXHMUKJXV5
