Tesla Model 3 Hatchback Rendering Looks Scary If You Are Audi or BMW

Tesla's Model 3 is like the meteorite that killed all the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. The ripples of its launch have reportedly spread their way to a Daimler shareholder event. While nobody died, shares of the German company are down to 2-year lows while Tesla is up about 100 dollars this week.

If the EV makers can deliver on what they promised/showed, the world is about to change for the greener. Already, they've got over 325,000 orders in one week, the car-making equivalent of a blockbuster. If you multiply that by $35,000, the starting price of a Model 3 before the tax credit, you get $11.375 billion. They just can't keep up with demand!

With a grille that looks like Deadpool's sealed mouth and silver bullet lines, the Model 3 is unlike anything we've ever seen before. Is it a sedan? Hard to answer that question, but we want to check out yet another creative rendering. Last time, we had crossover and wagon versions. But now we also have something for the Europeans, a 5-door compact version of the Model 3.

Sooner or later, Tesla is going to have to make a short car that's designed to cope with the urban environment. When that happens, the folks at Audi and other premium European shops will start having sleepless nights.

These renderings are made by Theophilus Chin. He seems to have kept the essence of Model 3. And yet it's slightly different, a bit like how the Skoda Rapid Sportback is different from the regular one. With a slightly shorter body, the Tesla would be easier to park. It might also appeal to the sort of people who like to race their Golf GTI on the weekends. After all, you can't turn up to a hot hatch event with a sedan.

The chances of Tesla making this car are about the same as Apple introducing a phone with buttons. It's not so much the shape of the car as what it offers underneath that matters in the EV business.
