Tesla Manufactures 96,155 Vehicles, Delivers 97,000 Vehicles In Q3

It’s a record-breaking quarter for Tesla, and the numbers are in for us to crunch. “Approximately 97,000 vehicles” were delivered in the third quarter of 2019, complemented by a production output of 96,155 vehicles in the three-month period.

The Palo Alto-based automaker and technology company reports combined production figures of 16,318 for the Model S and Model X while deliveries total 17,400 for the full-size sedan and utility vehicle. The Model 3 sedan takes the cherry with 96,155 produced and 97,000 delivered, and the good news extends with a strong entry into the fourth quarter.

“We are entering Q4 with an increase in our order backlog,” stated Tesla about their current situation, “and ss was also the case in Q2, nearly all of our Model 3 orders were received from customers who did not previously hold a reservation.” This goes to show that in addition to world-class battery and e-drive technologies, the vaunted T is more desirable than ever.

Organic demand is the name of the game, and for the time being, Tesla hasn’t published the company’s net income and cash flow. Elon Musk is walking on a thin line in terms of financial performance, more so if you remember how much the U.S. automaker is spending on the three-motor powertrain for the Model S and Model X as well as the Chinese expansion.

Quarterly financial results depend on more than deliveries, including the cost of sales, exchange rates, and the mix of directly leased vehicles. It’s also worth remembering that Tesla makes a bigger profit on each Model S and Model X despite the popularity of the Model 3 sedan.

Looking forward to 2020, the biggest challenge for Palo Alto will be the addition of the Model Y crossover to complete the lineup. The Y in S 3 X Y will enter production next year with five or seven seats at two facilities, the factory in Fremont and the Gigafactory 3 in Shanghai.

Can you believe the trademark for Model Y was filed in 2013 and the first teaser rendering was published in 2015? It’s been long in the making, but the real deal made its world premiere in March 2019 at the design studio in Hawthorne, California.
