Every few months or so, Tesla Motors releases an update of the operating system governing the Model S luxury electric sedan. Now at its sixth incarnation, Tesla OS 6.0 improves some of the firmware's duties but also adds all-new functions designed to make the Model S better than before and easier to live with.
With Release v6.0, the Tesla Model S operating system are provided with an enhanced satelitte navigation system. Based on Google Maps, the bettered sat nav is now able to show real-time traffic and reroute you if you're in a big hurry. In addition to that, here's something you've seen on a Samsung Galaxy phone or Tamagotchi device: you can now give a name to your Tesla Model S electric sedan.

Before you decide whether Sparky, Juniper or Mr. Git is the appropriate name for your electric car, there are quite a few more interesting and useful features coming with Tesla OS 6.0. An improved power management mode now adds "Nightly" and "Always Connected" options. Location-based Smart Air Suspension is among the new features too, automatically raising the Model S sedan's suspension when arriving at your home's or workplace's steep entry way.

It took a friggin' long time, but Tesla finally updated the calendar app, which now allows you to sync any events from car to smartphone. If you specified the location of a calendar event, the updated app is able to navigate you there as well. Neat, huh? The updated sat nav system now boasts with a "Commute Advice" digital butler. Basically, it's a sort of Alfred Pennyworth that monitors traffic to your work location on weekday mornings and to your home location on weekday evenings. Based on digital wizardry, Alfred offers you rerouting options if there's excessive traffic on your daily commute route.

Last but not least, Tesla OS 6.0 comes with a big surprise: you can now start and drive the Model S from your iPhone, without the car's key. Moreover, this iOS-based app will also let you unlock the charge port. An Android version of the application will follow in October.
