Tesla Concept Eye, the Electric Transformer

With Tesla hard at work preparing the way for the new Model S, we didn't expect to see anytime soon anything new in terms of vehicles coming from the American manufacturer and, truth be told, the Concept Eye presented here is not actually their design... The Italian-based European Design Institute (IED) is to be credited with most of the work put into this Concept Eye, with some consulting and a badge supplied by Tesla. The Eye was designed by a group of students to be an every-day electric vehicle and will be attending the 2010 Geneva Auto Show as a full-scale model. It measures 4.3 meter in length, 1.8 meters in height and 1.4 meters in width. No technical details on the Concept Eye have been revealed, apart for the fact that it can accommodate a battery pack at the rear. And what's even more important is the fact that, according to Quattroruote, it can shape-shift from a four door compact into a four door cabriolet or a pick-up. Tesla was not the only manufacturer IED worked with for the Geneva event, as two other contraptions, one based on the Fiat Panda 4x4 (Pygmy) and another inspired by Aston Martin (Libido) will also be presented. autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Geneva Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
