Tesla Motors has bought about 35 acres of land adjacent to its factory in Fremont, California, where it will develop a test track for its current and future electric cars, the Silicon Valley Business Journal reports.
According to the website, Tesla acquired the land from Union Pacific Railroad with the deal being closed last week. The property is located south of the Tesla plant and includes more than half of a road test track previously owned by the New United Motor Manufacturing Inc.
The EV automaker declined to provide details on how the property will be used, but said there are no immediate construction plans. The price for the whole transaction was not disclosed at the time of writing.
