Terrawind Looks Like an Amphibious School Bus

Some people have the tendency of transforming whatever is in their driveway into something it’s not meant to be there. We’ve heard of people turning cars into airplanes, helicopters and even boats, but this is the first boat-bus amphibious yellow monstrosity we've ever seen. Let's say that if Richard Branson was a bus driver for a school, this is what he would use.

So you are minding your own business, fishing or something, when you see some crazy guy driving a perfectly good yellow school bus into the river. Don’t panic and call in a suicide attempt as you see the water splashes up onto the windshield and side windows. It might actually be the Terrawind, an amphibious vehicle that can transit effortlessly from land to sea, according to gizfactory.

"Just doesn't seem right, does it?" says John Giljam, the man who created this engineering monstrosity that can be piloted on both land and water. This cruiser of the roads and of the not-so-high seas is even fitted with a soundproof interior reclining high back seats with tray tables and drink holders for the occupants to have good time on the go.

The nose of the vehicle, or should we say the ship’s hull, uses a V-shaped design that will cut through the water. The suspension systems are all air ride eliminating springs altogether for reduced maintenance and improved ride.

There are single engined variants, but also ones with 2 or 3 power units for a more flexible propulsion system. The single engine is the Caterpillar diesel with a rear engine Power Take Off unit that operates the marine transmission. The 2 and 3 engined variants have dedicated propulsion units for land and marine use.

If you want to have one of these strange vehicles in your driveway, the price starts from $850,000 (€650,000).
