They don’t say there’s no honor among thieves for nothing: 3 male suspects have been identified with help from the public, after they robbed a Shell gas station in Auburn, Washington, while the clerk lay dying from a heart attack.
Video caught by one of the surveillance cameras is available at the bottom of the page. According to Auburn police, the 3 suspects got into a fight with the clerk over pepperoni sticks they ate and were refusing to pay, and the confrontation was enough to trigger a medical emergency in the man.
He had a heart attack and fell to the floor unconscious. Any other human being with a heart and some common sense would have rushed to his help, but not these 3. Instead, they saw this as an opportunity to rob the place.
The video shows the 2 teens take the sticks from the counter, while the adult accompanying them is out of sight. The adult returns with a couple of items and pays for them, but he seems to refuse to pay for the pepperoni sticks. The teenagers refuse, too, which visibly infuriates the clerk.
Eventually, one of the boys takes out a $1 bill and hands it over, but it’s not enough to cover the sticks they ate. The clerk, money in hand, comes over to them and an argument ensues. Then, as he turns back and starts making his way back to the counter, he falls down.
One of the boy leans over him and takes the $1 bill from his hand and steals whatever else his eyes fall upon before running away. He returns shortly afterwards and tries to open the cash register, but fails. Again, he takes whatever he can and flees – only to return with the other boy, who helps him open the register.
About 3 minutes after the clerk’s heart attack, another customer came in and found him and called 911. As of the time of writing, he is alive but in critical condition at a local hospital, but police have managed to identify all 3 suspects following their appeal to the public for information.
