TECHART Wins Tuner Grand Prix 2009

Held at the Hockenheimring race track in Germany, the Tuner Grand Prix is considered one of the world's most important events in the sport auto tuning calendar. The GT Turbo class was regarded as the fastest and most spectacular and was won by TECHART's racing driver Jorg Hardt, who was able to repeat last year's performance.

The TECHART GTstreet RS based on the Porsche 911 GT2 proved to be the fastest car on the track, winning the event with an average time of 1:08.037 minutes during the five laps of the small circuit of Hockenheimring race track. The winning concept, the TECHART GTstreet RS, outputs about 515 KW / 700 HP at 7,000 RPM and 860 Nm of torque at 4,500 RPM thanks to the modified VTG turbochargers.

Able to reach 350 km/h, the car was equipped with a custom body kit done by TECHART, height-adjustable TECHART sports suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires over the single-piece TECHART Formula GTS light alloy rims, sized 8.5Jx20 in front and 12Jx20 at the rear. This extremely well prepared vehicle along with Jorg Hardt's precise driving helped the TECHART GTstreet RS clock 0.604 seconds faster then the team in second place.

Despite the fact that “winning is everything, the only ones who remember you when you come second are your wife and your dog” as once said by Damon Hill is true, we cannot leave unappreciated the high level of competition the event has managed to stack up. Being 0.604 seconds faster on the small circuit of the Hockeheimring track can only show how well the tuning teams prepared for the event and how strong the competition was. Even Jorg Hardt's statement, who said that “the car had been prepared extremely professional for the event” and that “the tires performed steady and kept a very high level during the whole competition” gives us a clue as to how close the competition was.

The second win for the TECHART team was recorded in the Coupé/Cabriolet-turbo class, where the TECHART GTstreet R Cabrio based on the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet managed a time of 1:09.601, which was 3.186 seconds faster than the following entry and succeeded in keeping its title, which was won last year.

Jorg Hardt also finished first in the SUV class, behind the wheel of a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S based car, called the TECHART Magnum, which kept its standard power, but featured an aerokit and a sports air suspension module.
