Team SuperMartXe VIP by Paris Hilton Presented

What many of us thought its was a practical joke coming from the European media turned out to be real thing: Paris Hilton has launched her very own 125GP racing team. Yes, after clothing lines, fragrances and accessories, the 30-year-old high profile celebrity has decided to lend her name to the MotoGP support series in 2011.

The official unveiling of the team members and livery took place this past weekend at the Hotel ME in Madrid, Spain. The venture is called SuperMartxe VIP by Paris Hilton, and takes its name from the dance party series of the same name in Ibiza.

The event organizers are sponsoring the team, and when they approached Hilton with an endorsement deal, she was apparently so excited that she bought into the team as a part owner as well.

As bizarre as it sounds, this unusual and unexpected association has the potential to attract a lot more viewers to the MotoGP series.

While the celebrity heiress won’t be riding the bikes herself in the races, she is still contracted to attend at least five of the races on the calendar for the upcoming season, which will feature eighteen races from Qatar to Indianapolis.

The official launch also confirmed that Sergio Gadea (formerly with the Pons Racing Moto2 team) and Maverick Vinales (the 2010 Spanish 125 GP Champion), of the Barcelona-based By Queroseno Racing (BQR) team will be riding the bikes, while Christian Lundberg and Rossano Brazzi will handle the technical side of things, alongside Technical director Ricard Jove.

Oh and, yes, as you can see in the adjacent images, the livery of the SuperMartxe VIP by Paris Hilton 125cc Aprilia racing bike is... pinkish. This makes us wonder whether the riders will also be forced to wear pink leathers...
