All of you who've seen The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift have a pretty good idea who Team Orange is; if not, you might know them from one of their countless shows or from the competitions they take part in. And if that's not the case either, you might learn who they are at the Barbican Turbo 2010 show in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre between 7-9 October.
Team Orange, one of the drift teams competing in the D1 Grand Prix Series, will be attending the event with a full team, as well as with a little extra: Sumika Kubokawa, the Drift Queen. But that's not the only surprise.
If you're in the area, you'll be able to see “15 breathtaking demonstrations during the three days of the show,“ including the team's trademark twin-drift and the premiere of the triple drift. The crowd will not escape without an extra thrill, as spectators will be picked up and taken in... drift-taxi trips.
“We're bringing two R33 and one R34 Nissan Skyline and will be taking some lucky members of the audience for "drift-taxi" rides throughout the weekend as well; we can't wait," Hiroke Furuse, Team Orange manager said in a statement.
"Barbican Turbo is the only event of its kind in the region, we are a dedicated custom, modified, tuning and motorsports show specifically for fans of this sub-culture; and we're delighted to be bringing Team Orange back to the Middle East again," Matt Tarrant, show manager for the event added.
