Team Lotus Signs Deal with Ruroc Helmet Maker

Before finding out the official outcome of their naming dispute with Group Lotus, Team Lotus have no problem going ahead with their development plans in Formula 1. After confirming the purchase of Caterham Cars last month, Tony Fernandes has now announced an official partnership of Team Lotus with British helmet and goggle manufacturer Ruroc.

According to an official press release issued by the Norfolk based organization, the agreement between the two parties will become effective immediately. Starting from the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix, all the members of Team Lotus' pit crew will make use of the Ruroc RG-1 Helmet and goggle system developed by the British company.

The partnership between the two companies will be visible within the F1 paddock throughout the season, thanks to the Ruroc logos that will make the Team Lotus trucks, motorhome and garage at each of the remaining 14 events (15, if we count the unstable situation in Bahrain).

I am delighted that we have Ruroc on board as an Official Supplier,” said Riad Asmat, Team Lotus Chief Executive Officer. “Ruroc's 'Think Extreme' approach is exactly what we need from our suppliers, and we are all excited about the commercial and brand benefits we will bring each other.”(

We are obviously delighted to be supporting Team Lotus,” added David Pearson, Ruroc's Managing Director, “and believe that our approach to extreme protection will keep us working together to achieve first-class results.

It's yet undisclosed whether the partnership was signed only for the remainder of the 2011 F1 season or will continue into the upcoming campaign.
