Having pets other than a dog or a cat is not really that weird anymore. After all, we’re pretty sure you guys know at least one guy that has a hamster, a turtle or even a big snake somewhere in his bedroom. We’re also sure you never heard about a guy petting a squirrel, much less one who carries it everywhere he goes.
If there is something really cool about the internet other than... well, the internet, it's that somehow it connects the weirdest people on the planet in a way nothing is obscure anymore as long as it remains original. Piotr from Belarus is not only one of the few taxi drivers that have a weird pet, but he also probably has the cutest one on the planet.
The furry rodent is simply too great not to share pictures of it. “Lately people were telling us that they were given a ride by some guy who had a squirrel inside his cab, so we went to the taxi cab company and they confirmed they have a driver with the animal always sitting on the dashboard,” a local journalist told English Russia. Wait, the story gets a lot better.
It turns out Piotr used to be a Spetsnaz (Special Purpose Forces) soldier, and that the squirrel was a gift from his fellows. “Soldiers brought me a small and very weak squirrel. It was unconscious. I removed the worms it had in its mouth and eyes, then I started feeding him every four hours with baby food from the sprinkler. Some time later he started eating by himself”, the taxi driver explained.
So having a squirrel pet is not that odd, but why not keep the poor fellow somewhere in a cage at home. Well, it would seem the two are inseparable, since they even sleep together. “He doesn’t live in any cage, he sleeps with me. He prefers to sleep on my chest. And he east with me too - he likes nuts, bread, fruits and seeds”.
