It took more than a decade for Luc Besson to bring us the fifth installment of the Taxi saga, but here we are, bringing you the trailer for Taxi 5.
While the trailer landed on Sunday, the movie itself is scheduled to hit theaters in April (April 11 in France) and we have to start with one massive change.

There's simply no way of sugarcoating this - Samy Naceri, the actor who played the charismatic Daniel for the first four episodes of the saga, seems to have vanished. Speaking of which, we'll remind you that the news covering the actor's death, which surfaced last year, was nothing more than a hoax.

Instead, the new tale sees Malik Bentalha being cast in the role of Eddy, who is none other than Daniel's nephew.

In a somewhat similar move, the clumsy Emilien, which was played by Frédéric Diefenthal, is replaced by Franck Gastambide, in the role of Sylvain. The newcomer mixes his exceptional driving skills with the Paris cop badge and we'll get to see him being forced to wipe the dust off that infamous 407 taxi.

And while Bernard Farcy is still here, his character, Commissioner Gilbert, seems to have moved on to the role of mayor. Regardless, he has a mission for the duo mentioned above, one that sees them bringing the Peugeot back to life.

So, can a front-wheel-drive sedan chase mid-engined exotics like a Ferrari 458 and a Lamborghini Aventador? Well, according to the action in the trailer, the answer is a big, fat "yes".

Here's to hoping fifth Taxi movie brings back the entertaining spirit of the original rather than diluting the formula by playing the let's-overdo-it card, as it has happened with the Fast And Furious series.

Meanwhile, you can enjoy the wild chase action, accompanied by the beats of Balck Eyed Peak's Pump It, in the piece of footage below. And yes, you can prepare to meet tons of totalled police cars once again.
