The last time we reported anything about Tata Motors, the Indian automaker was bragging about its "awesome" 2014 Nano model with new rear bumper and chrome trim. But two months have passed and the manufacturer has come up with a truly awesome vehicle, the Xenon Tuff Truck concept.
Unveiled at Australia's National 4x4 and Outdoors Show and Fishing and Boating Expo in Melbourne this week, the Tuff Truck concept is an exciting off-road version of the company's Xenon pickup truck. Unfortunately, it won't see production, but it's a vehicle worth looking into.
Based on the Xenon Dual Cab and finished in a satin grey color (Arden), the truck sports redesigned bumpers, a new front grille, bespoke 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in off-road tires, an intake snorkel, and roof-mounted Narva LED Xenon off-road lights. What's more, the truck's intimidating design was created under the supervision of Julian Quincey, none other than the chief designed of HSV (Holden Special Vehicles).
"The acceptance I am looking for is brand appeal. If you look at the Xenon and the toughness and appeal that it offers in its segment, doing the Tuff Truck Concept immediately boosts that brand appeal from day one. But at the moment it is purely a concept. I’d love to put it in production someday. But the reality is there needs to be the market demand for it first," said Darren Bowler, managing director of Australian Tata distributor Fusion Automotive.
