Tata Nano, the world’s cheapest car, has just become the world’s cheapest police cruiser. Grand IJS Electronics, India’s well known supplier of electronics and police beacons has unveiled a police-spec Tata Nano at the International Security Expo in New Delhi.
We know some of you may be laughing like crazy after reading the first paragraph, but bear in mind that this micro police car will be used in India exclusively and will serve as means of transportation for special units that will patrol the city in order to protect women and children in distress.
At least that’s what Indian Autos Blog claims, who were right on site at New Dehli’s Security Expo to take a few shots of the police vehicle. Besides getting a Dehli Police livery, beacons, a siren and search lights, the Nano was also fitted with a medical kit and a 80W amplifier.
No mechanical upgrades were applied to the vehicle, which means they will be used with the same 624cc gasoline and bi-fuel engines that deliver 38 HP/51 Nm and 33 HP/45 Nm respectively.
