TARC stands for the Taiwan Automotive Research Consortium, and the purpose of this organization is to prove the viability of electric transportation using local components. And since the best way to prove something is often "show and tell", here is TARC's 96V e bike.
This machine is 100% MIT, with MIT meaning Made in Taiwan, and with no relationship with the Massachusetts institute. The 96V bike is powered by a STOBA battery, created in Taiwan and being capable of storing 180Wh/kg, compared to the 110Wh LiFePO4 batteries currently offer. This accounts for the 70Ah energy pack inside the bike.

The 96V machine rolls with a Kymco chassis and a 15kW induction motor, being capable of delivering the acceleration of a 750cc-class bike and offering a 70 km (43.5 miles) range with a top speed of 120km/h (74.5 mph).

What's even nicer is the fact that things are running smooth and this is not a prototype bike: there already are 20 such machines out in the wild being tested and gathering data. We'd like to see such a bike in showrooms: the pulled-back bars remind us of Honda's DN1 machine and it's uncanny but ultra-aggressive looks. Via TechVehi.
