Talladega, 29 Leaders, 1 Winner: Kevin Harvick

The Aaron 499 race at the Talladega Superspeedway proved to be one of the most disputed ones so far in the Sprint calendar, as it set Sprint Cup records for the number of leaders and lead changes: 29 and 88, respectively. Kevin Harvick however managed to be the last of those leaders, the one that really matters, and crossed the finish line first, braking a 115-race winless streak.

What's interesting is that Harvick won 'Dega a few days after sponsor Shell/Pennzoil announced it would leave Richard Childress Racing and Harvick's No. 29 to sponsor Penske. This is the first time the driver takes home the first points since his debut in Shell's colors in 2007.

"It really played out perfect for us today," Harvick said according to NASCAR. "We had a plan to ride around in the back, wait 'til 50 laps to go and really push forward after that."

"Our sponsor's leaving us, and the best part about it is that they can leave while we're winning. That's the best part of the whole thing."

The race was not without incident, as was the Nationwide one later in the day. On lap 83, Kyle Busch made contact with Johnny Sauter and sent the latter's Chevrolet spinning right into Kurt Busch. Among the ten cars involved in the following crash were Matt Kenseth's, Paul Menard's and Michael Waltrip's.

Trailing Harvick across the finish line was Jamie McMurray, Juan Montoya and Denny Hamlin. The top five was closed on Sunday by Mark Martin.
