Take-Off, Flight and Landing Go Well, but There's More

There are a lot of things that can go wrong when it comes to motorcycle stunts, even though they are as simple as jumping off a ramp. From the basic physics calculations to preparing the needed hardware and the terrain, a lot of elements, some of them seemingly insignificant, can contribute to the success or failure of a trick.
In this case, the guys who set up the ramp jump seem to have taken care of the setup well enough. Likewise, the rider looks like he knows what he's doing, and this is clearly not his first jump.

The speed is just right and the rider's position in mid-air is also okay. He lands the machine quite smoothly and looks in almost complete control of what is going on.

We deliberately added "almost" in the sentence because there is one detail that nobody seems to have thought about: what happens after the bike lands?

Regardless of how small the jump and the bike speed are, the rider needs a runoff area after landing. Something might not work well during the flight or landing, and he or she has to make whatever maneuvers necessary to mend things. These maneuvers, as well as safely slowing down to a halt, need room. Empty room.

Having another ramp perpendicular to the bike's direction barring the way 30 feet or so from the landing point is not exactly our idea of an ideal runoff area, nor does it resemble a safe motorcycle stunt setup.

Luckily, the rider appears to have figured things out pretty quickly and brakes as soon as he can. However, the impact can't be avoided, and the rider crashes into the uncanny barrier, but without serious consequences. A good lesson for anyone who is into this.
