And no, we are not talking about a car, but about the new sports seats created by Abarth and Sabelt Style Center. The new seats take their inspiration from the racing seats for the Abarths 595 and 695 and boast all the characteristics of a regular sport seat: lightness (10 kilos less than production seats), the capability of retaining the body under lateral and lengthwise drives, ergonomy and comfort.
The shell of the seats are made out of white compound material, formed by structural polyester resins with glass fibers, and are moulded using Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC) technology. The backrest embodies the headrest and coms equipped with four point seat belts.
The new seats come in two versions, Frau black leather and fretworked black Alcantara, or black “F1″ technical fabric. Every here and there, the seats unveil felled seams with red thread and the distinctive Abarth writing, while the silver color typifies the Scorpion Logo placed on the backrest tilt knob.
Up until now, these seats have been installed on 200 units of the Abarth 500, all of them used as courtesy cars in Ferrari dealerships. The 500s are painted in a color inspired by the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, and they make use other Abarth tweaks as well: the variable back-pressure exhaust “Abarth by Magneti Marelli” and the satellite navigator “Abarth Blue&MeTM MAP” with Telemetry function developed by Magneti Marelli.
The Abarth Corse, which debuted at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, will be included in the official Abarth Cars Accessories catalogue and will be available for the Fiat 500 and the Grande Punto 3-door.
