Take a Look at How Off-Road Racing Looks Like from the Passenger Seat

It’s experiencing off-road in a 360 degrees approach, that’s what this video does, and it's a hell of a great plan. After all, we haven’t yet met a petrolhead who would say no to driving an 800-horsepower buggy during an off-road race before.

There are plenty of ways you can promote something. Happily, now and then, some of the car companies out there hit the jackpot. And this story is one of those when an ingenious idea turns into the essential element of a great video. Nitto Tire has partnered up with off-road racer and owner of a buggy-customizing company, Shannon Campbell, to offer fans the opportunity to experience what drivers do at this type of events.

The 360-degree off-road driving experience was created using a multi-camera custom rig that records in every direction. Viewers have the chance to move the angle in whatever position they like to see the action, while special apps and programs allow you to experience the virtual reality in a simple and fun way. Here’s how the creators describe the experience:

Off-road racing is amazing to watch at Ultra4 events such as King of The Hammers, but very few us ever get to know what it’s like to race across varied terrain and leap boulders like they’re mere bumps in the road. That’s all about to change. Strap yourself in shotgun next to two-time ‘King’ Shannon Campbell as he propels us through the race course during Ultra4’s 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix in this virtual reality 360-degree video.”

As to what power is concerned, according to Bold Ride, Campbell is flogging his 800-horsepower buggy, which was most likely built by his family-run company. After all, they claim they produce some of the best off-road capable buggies on the market, with Shannon putting his craftsmanship to the test.
