Take a Look at Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Classic Chevrolet Collection

Ever wonder what NASCAR drivers ride around in their day-to-day lives? Well, wonder no more, because two-time Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. is opening his garage door to let the whole world in.

Being a Chevrolet driver all of the 17 years he's spent in the Sprint Cup, Earnhardt couldn't possibly have a parking lot full of Ford models. Or, if he did, his contract would probably forbid him from publicly speaking about them in a loving manner. Therefore, all the five videos he will be doing about his classic cars involve Chevy models.

The first car featured is a 1967 Camaro, which Earnhardt says is probably his favourite out of the cars he owns. The Hendrick Motorsports driver used to have a 1969 Camaro, but he wasn't too happy with that one.

It's really nice to hear Earnhardt say that all his cars are runners and he enjoys driving them. We love people who use the full privilege of being classic car owners instead of treating their vehicles like investments or museum pieces. Well... some of them are museum pieces. Earnhardt claims the '67 Camaro is easy to live with and to drive around daily.

Not surprisingly, the car isn't all original. It was built by DSE and has Corvette seats, a custom dash, various mechanical upgrades with more modern parts, a small-block V8, and a 5-speed manual transmission. Detroit Speed put in a hydroformed subframe, mini-tubs, 4-link rear suspension, and subframe connectors.

DSE also built a 1972 Camaro for Dale Earnhardt Jr., even before the '67, but that one won't be featured in the series. The other cars that the Sprint Cup driver will talk about in the upcoming videos, over the next few weeks, are a 1965 Impala, a 1948 TK pickup, a 1988 S-10, and a 1976 Laguna. The next video is scheduled to be released on December 23.

Chevys aren't the only vehicles Earnhardt collects. He also owns a graveyard of wrecked race cars. That's very strange, considering his dad died in a racing accident.
