Take a Last Look at the Toyota FT-86 Open in Tokyo

She’s definitely a beauty, standing there at the show on its own pedestal and just shining at the audience. Sadly, we won’t see one on the streets too soon.
According to Subaru, which manufactures the BRZ and the Scion FR-S (the GT 86 in the US), chopping off the roof of the coupe needs a wholly reorganized body structure in order to be safe. This means that it’s not a feasible project so there are slim chances it will enter production.

However, Toyota likes to tease its fans and brought a new FT-86 Open concept at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, which, unlike the white one we knew, is painted in a deep glossy red color, wears different rims and has the steering wheel on the right.
