Toyota’s most popular SUV RAV4 now comes with a full electric drivetrain, which combines a Tesla-designed and produced battery pack and electric motor with the the Japanese production expertise.
Actually, the RAV4 EV is the only full electric SUV on sale now, further expanding Toyota’s offer for clients wanting to stop using gasoline.

Toyota’s Technical Center Executive Program Manager, Sheldon Z. Brown, shows us some of the main features that differentiates the normal RAV4 for the EV version in the video bellow.

Apart from the redesigned front fascia and EV badging, the SUV comes with standard 17-inch alloy wheels and inside you will find a new shift-by-wire push-button gear selector and special instrumentation for monitoring the electric powertrain.

Speaking of the electric powertrain, the battery pack is placed just underneath the passenger compartment and it produces 37 kWh of usable energy, which is charged via a Tesla-made socket instead of the regular filling cap. See the rest of the specifications in the video bellow.
