T-Van Concept Traces Line Towards Next Generation Recreational Vehicles

Mobility nowadays seems to be a key feature in every day living. The need of mobility comes as a consequence of the continuous revolving environment around us, meaning that we have to keep up the pace even if we have to spend a large part of our time “living” in our vehicles. Thus, a team of designers has come up with a concept that enables the average driver to transform his vehicle into a temporary living space.

A confluence of mobility and habitation has been dreamed by Chris and Andrew Johnson in the form of travel trailers, caravans and recreational vehicles.

Their latest creation in matter of “habitable” vehicles is the “T-Van” concept. The versatile concept van was penciled in a minimalistic, yet very futuristic way. The futuristic design of this one of a kind caravan sets it apart from most of other caravans on the road today.

The visual striking effect is not the only eye catching feature of this concept as its functionality reaches beyond the visual elements. According to Chris and Andrew Johnson, the streamlined form improves the fuel consumption. Furthermore, the glowing grab bars on the exterior body give a certain degree of visibility, especially during the night. The vehicle in its stationary position can morph into a T-shaped plan, as related by automotto.com

The morphing is made possible by opening up two side pods from the sides of the vehicle. With this morphed form, the whole concept gets revitalized for adequate accommodation of six people. As an environmental feature the roofing system of the pods will be fitted with solar panels which will provide additional clean energy for the utilities on board.
