Whenever supercars gather in one place and rev their engines, a crowd always seems to gather, and while twenty years ago they would have simply watched in awe and maybe taken a few photos, nowadays everybody has a smartphone/camera, as you can see in this video posted by Marchettino, from a recent such gathering at the famous Monza track, in Italy.
Among the cars present there, worth mentioning are the Ferrari 458 Italia, thee Lambos (Gallardo, Murcielago and Aventador), a Mercedes-Benz SLS (which we tested in Dubai in its convertible form), and a Nissan GT-R which shows off its launch control system. At first all the cars are lined up like the racecars at an old Le Mans race, and they then dart off one by one.
Of the lot, the SLS still sounds best, in our opinion, as it combines the grunty V8 noise we commonly associate with American muscle cars, with the free- (and high-) revving nature of high-perforamnce European engines. Still, as a whole, the event was quite spectacular, and well worth a look.
