The Nissan GT-R is an impressive performance vehicle, as it comes with a 485 HP turbocharged V6 engine a PhD in all wheel drive, but its 3,800 lb weight is kind of a drawback. This is exactly what one lucky GT-R U.S. owner thought. The guy liked the comfort of the car but wanted it to become more track-friendly.

The solution was simple: he commissioned Switzer Performance Innovation (SPI) to make the GT-R the car of his weightless dreams.

The guys at Switzer are known for being obsessed with dynamic abilities, so they started the car’s diet by...adding a huge amount of horsepower and torque. The tuner installed its previously developed P800 kit, coming with new intercoolers, intakes and turbochargers, and bringing the engine’s output to 800 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque.

Once the powerplant “issue” was solved, Switzer replaced the vehicle’s standard steel braking rotors with ceramic ones (provided by AP), installed matching brake pads and ditched the brake hoses, installing woven steel lines. This not only saved weight, but also increased the vehicle’s braking fade resistance.

Additional weight saving measures included the installing of a carbon fiber rear deck lid and the fitting of adjustable Bride Racing bucket seats. The vehicle also received an adjustable JRZ suspension system (this allows the owner to use the car both as a racer and as a cruiser, if we can call it so).

The aerodynamic enhancements really serve their purpose and are not eye-candy stuff: the tuner has installed an underbody diffuser and an Aeromotions wing, which has a variable angle.

The result of all this efforts is a track-ready 3,600 lbs, 800 hp Nissan GT-R which can also be used for daily driving.... to and from the track.
