Swedish Street Racers Stop Highway Traffic, Nitrous Big Block Volvo Dominates

If you thought the cold keeps Swedish street racers from doing their thing, you were wrong. We’re here to give you a piece of footage that comes from the heart of the illegal racing scene over there, with things obviously being dominated by Volvos.

Those of you who giggled when reading the Swedish carmaker’s name should think twice. We don’t have to mention the parts of the video that highlight the extreme Gothenburg machines, you can’t miss them.

We are talking about two cars, one of which is a V40 that now uses a 588 cubic inch big block. The station wagon uses not one, but two nitrous shots. The builders have even taken the time to mount a small pig on top of the rear wing, with its eyes turning blue when the second shot is used. Talk about flying pigs...

The second Volvo might have the shell of an elderly machine, but make no mistake, the hood cutout was used to make room for an S480 LSx V8. Unlike its rival, this racer has gone down the forced induction route, using an oversized turbine in the process.

The boxy contraption has been dynoed at 764 hp, while putting all those ponies to work with the help of a Powerglide transmission. The extreme soundtrack is on the house.

We don’t want to ruin the fun and talk about what happens when these two meet other racers, or when they fight against each other. Still, we can’t help but be amazed by how these races are “organized.”

While a crowd of racers stops traffic on a busy three-lane highway, the competing cars line up and play the good old game. Once they too set off, a massive gang of bikers follow, probably to ensure the cars that racers can easily disappear into the night.
