For years, Tesla's native market has also been its most important one. However, with the planned boost in production, the company will now be able to focus on other parts of the world as well, with Europe being the obvious choice.
It's not like the Old Continent hasn't been touched by the Tesla-mania at all, but the Californian company's presence there has been rather tame as a whole. There are a few countries such as Norway, Denmark or Holland, for example, where the luxury EV is doing very well, but if you want to cut it big, you need to become an important player in markets like Germany, France or the United Kingdom.

A recent program announced just the other week will seek to do just that. Since Tesla doesn't believe in traditional advertising, it will attempt to lure potential clients by allowing them to experience life with a Model S for one week. It's all part of the "Drive to Believe" challenge that's been launched last Wednesday and is exclusively available to people living in select European countries.

"At Tesla, we believe that it takes driving a Tesla and experiencing its superior performance, safety, and technology, to be convinced," reads the program's description. "We now want to give you that opportunity as well." And by "you," Tesla means residents of the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Luxembourg, Italy, Denmark, and Ireland.

All those interested have to do is fill in a short form on the "Drive to Believe" website before December 31, 2016, and Tesla will select a certain number of winning entries for every country at a yet unspecified date.

This shows the Palo Alto car manufacturer is accelerating its efforts to set a stronger foothold in Europe before the release of the Model 3 following the acquisition of a German engineering company and the vague announcement of a second Gigafactory. It's hard to imagine those who will win this contest won't be impressed with the car's abilities, so when a considerably more affordable model shows up, they might join the Tesla family.

And even if they don't, Tesla reserves the right to film and document in any way their experience at the wheel during the one week, so it will be able to use the footage for further promotional purposes. You can read the full legal terms on the program's website - spoilers: it's pretty discretionary on Tesla's part.
