Making a list of the top five coolest Ford Mustangs ever built can be a tricky thing to do. The Mustang nameplate will be celebrating its 60th anniversary two years from now, and we might see the unveiling of the seventh generation by then. Compiling this kind of list is going to be subjective, and people are bound to choose different cars based on their personal preferences.
Now, getting your hands on a 2000 Mustang SVT Cobra R could be tricky, seeing that only 300 units were ever built. So the 2003-2004 Terminator Cobra is probably the next best thing. This marked the height of the fourth-generation Ford Mustang, just before the introduction of the S-197. It was available as a 2-door coupe or a 2-door convertible, and just over 19,000 units were built. With those numbers, it's far from being the rarest Mustang ever, but it's no common vehicle either. Looking at production numbers for 2003, a total of over 150,000 Mustangs left the factory floor!

So this raises the question: how rare is a 2003 SVT Cobra Convertible like the own being sold by Chicago Motor Cars? For 2003, you're looking at 5,082 drop-top Cobras. But if you care to go further, you can also look at color codes. 548 Silver Metallic Cobras were delivered in 2003, and 311 of those had a Charcoal interior with the Black Roof. The Satin Silver Metallic was the rarest color for 2003, as it was applied to a total of 81 cars. But rarity aside, it's the overall package that draws you into this particular Cobra.

In stock form, the supercharged 4.6-liter V8 was rated for 390-hp and 390 lb-ft (530 Nm) of torque. But with a car like this, it can be hard to refrain from performing a few upgrades. The previous owner opted for an upgraded 2.8" Supercharger Pulley, a Cold Air Kit from BBK Performance, a Steeda Pulley Tensioner, and a Bama handheld tuner. With that in mind, this Terminator should now be up to about 450 hp. At this level, you aren't going to outperform a brand new Shelby GT500. But a 13-second run at the dragstrip might be feasible under the right circumstances.

Sure, an upgraded exhaust system would turn the heat up to 11, without spoiling the clean look of it all. But then again, that might draw some additional, unwanted attention from your neighbors or the police. Even though this car is almost 20 years old, it hasn't been driven all that much. The odometer shows just 7,380 miles (11,876 km), so you could say that this is almost brand new. The asking price is set at $39,800, which is just slightly more expensive than the starting MSRP of a Convertible Cobra back in 2003.
