With the high import taxes India has for bikes larger than 700cc, it's fairly easy to understand that any liter-class bike instantly becomes a super-premium machine. It's the case of the all-new Suzuki V-Strom 1000, recently launched in India.
The Suzuki showrooms in Delhi offers the V-Strom 1000 for around 15 lakh rupees, and this makes for about $24, 190 or €17,655. Not exactly the affordable bike advertised by Suzuki when the model was introduced in the Western markets, but this is the fate of all CBU bikes arriving in India.
Still, customers have started to book the V-Strom 1000, and the first deliveries are expected to be made by the end of February.
This big-bore adventure bike brings ABS and electronically-adjustable suspensions as standard, a new, revised 1037cc engine which Suzuki claims is good for 59 mpg (3.98 l/100 km). The mill delivers 99 hp at 8,000 rpm and 76 lb-ft (103 Nm) at 4,000 rpm.
Multiple riding modes and traction control are also standard.
