Slowly but surely, Japanese automaker Suzuki is recovering from past problems, its sales getting bolstered by demand from China. Still, most of the cars it sells in Europe are pretty old, like the Splash, Alto, Swift and Jimny. The one ray of sunshine is a new hatchback model that's been seen testing on a couple of occassions this summer.
Nobody really knew what it was until today, when graphics manipulator Theophilus Chin pulled two rendered images out of his bag of tricks. According to him, our mystery car from under the camouflage is actually a hatchback version of the Alivio sedan and shares many design elements from the B-pillar forwards.
The Suzuki Alivio concept sedan has been revealed at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, meaning it's designed to appeal primarily to the Asian market. For the Europeans, Suzuki is working on a 5-door model based on the same platform.
It will be engineered to compete with cheaper hatchbacks, like the Toyota Auris, the Kia Cerato hatch and the Pulsar from Nissan. Power is expected to come from a 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. In some markets, a 1.3-liter diesel or a 1.4-liter petrol will be offered, both existing mill Suzuki uses on the Swift.
The interior is expected to feature many of the new buttons and the whole center console that have been developed for the SX4 S-Cross. Seating for five adults will be accompanied by about 350 liters of luggage space.

What sort of car is this?
Well, the Alivio Concept is similar in size to the Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra. It measures 4.54 meters in length (179 inches), 1.73m (70 inches) wide and 1.47m tall (58 inches).
