Suzuki Teases 2011 Middleweight Gixxer Motorcycles

Not only the naked bikes segment will have a couple of very interesting additions next year, but the sportsbike machines also have their own battle to dispute. The specialists at Suzuki sensed the danger coming their way from other Japanese manufacturers such as Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki, and are struggling to keep up with customer demands.

So, while preparing an all-new naked bike in the form of the GSR750, Suzuki made an effort and also worked on a facelift version of the 600cc and 750cc gixxer models.

For the time being, the company has released just one teaser photo showing the 2011 600/750 identical twins, previewing what looks to be a 2009 GSX-R1000. No surprise here, as the same designer, Shigeru Uchiyama, was responsible for both versions.

There are only minor changes prepared for 2011, mostly to the visual aspect of the bikes, but a small weight reduction and power increase are also expected. Four new air intakes are placed on the side of a redesigned, slimmer headlamp that now uses a pile of high and low beams.

These slight changes will require only minor investments for Suzuki, but it will also offer a somewhat fresh perspective to the gixxer line. Consumers will get to see for themselves the 2011 Suzuki GXR-600 and 2011 Suzuki GSX-R750 models at the Intermot Cologne bike show on October 5.

The bikes will be joined there by the 2011 Suzuki GSR750 that is expected to compete against the Kawasaki Z750R, Yamaha FZ8, Aprilia Shiver and Triumph Street Triple.

The next display of new Suzuki motorcycle models is expected to take place at the upcoming EICMA show in Milan this November.
