Suzuki SX4 Crossover Facelift Takes to Europe

Japanese manufacturer Suzuki announced today it will bring into Europe the revised version of the SX4 crossover or, in their words, "the compact hatchback with big-car attitude." The facelift brings changes to both the way the car looks and to its power unit choices as well.

Suzuki added to the range a 2.0l intercooled, turbocharged DDiS engine, which will replace the existing 1.9l unit. The new unit allows torque to be raised from 280 Nm to 320 Nm and will help reduce CO2 emissions from 166g to 129 g of CO2/km. The unit has an average fuel consumption rating of 4.9l/100km (for the version equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and 2WD).

For the rest of the engine range, the manufacturer promises the same improvements in fuel consumption and CO2 emission levels.

For the exterior of the SX4, Suzuki designed some new parts, like the new front bumper and grille and new front and rear skid plates. New five-spoke, 16-inch alloy wheels, shoed with tires sized 205/60R16 have been added. Suzuki also offers an Aero package to go with the facelift.

Major changes can also be seen in the interior of the SX4, starting with the new meter cluster with an integrated digital information display. The climate-control system was entirely redesigned, while backlighting is now being provided for the steering-wheel-mounted controls.

For the top of the range GLX trim, Suzuki offers soft pads on the door armrests, chrome-plated door handles and a dashboard center speaker. The GLX also features a keyless start system.

For now, the manufacturer has not provided any pricing for the new SX4 crossover version.
