Suzuki’s Swift Sport, its hot B-segment hatchback, is set to receive a new generation next year. With the change, Suzuki will ditch the naturally aspirated engine of the ongoing Swift's sporty version for a turbocharged gasoline engine. We are writing about a 1.4-liter Boosterjet unit, borrowed from the Vitara S.
With the donor model, a hotter version of the Vitara, acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) takes place in 10.2 seconds, while top speed is rated at 200 km/h (124 mph).
Peak output is 140 HP, while peak torque is 220 Nm (162 lb-ft). When compared to the 1.6-liter unit of the Vitara, the torque was increased by over 50 percent.
However, Suzuki will not just settle for the standard output, but prefer to provide even more horsepower from the 1.4-liter unit. Do not imagine significant figures here, but a slight power bump is to come for the all-new Boosterjet unit.
The power hike will come with more torque and improved fuel economy so that everybody will be happy about the change.
Suzuki is also expected to keep the Swift Sport’s signature traits of the last two generations for the all-new model. We are foreseeing a proper handling car, with a carefully set suspension, accurate steering, and precise manual gearbox. As with its previous generations, the Swift Sport will have a discreet body kit when compared to the standard versions of the Swift.
In spite of the all-new generation of the Swift and the introduction of a turbocharged gasoline engine instead of the standard 1.6-liter naturally aspirated mill, Suzuki’s B-Segment hot hatchback is expected to keep weight down, Autocar has learned.
As with its predecessors, this characteristic, along with the carefully calibrated steering and suspension systems will provide a pleasant drive, which will be supplemented with joy from a turbocharged gasoline engine. That sounds like fun to us.
