The new award is the second one for the Swift line, after the one received by Suzuki in 2006. The factors which led to the car being chosen this year as well included handling, performance and value for money.
“This is a great achievement for the all new Swift in the lead up to its Australian arrival. It reaffirms the Swift as the class leader in style, performance and handling,” said Tony Devers, Suzuki Australia manager, who is getting ready for the introduction of the model on the local market.
“The Swift has been an outstanding success for Suzuki worldwide, reaching the magical one million sales mark faster than any car in the company’s history. To date it has sold nearly two million units.”
The current Swift is equipped with the entry level 1.2l petrol engine which delivers 94 PS and 118 Nm of torque. This unit is accompanied by a refreshed 1.3l diesel that delivers 75 hp and a peak torque of 190 Nm.
The new Swift will be made available in nine colours - seven metallic (Smokey Green, Kashmir Blue, Halactic Grey, Silky Silver, Sunlight Copper Pearl, Cosmic Black Pearl and Cool White Pearl) and two solid (Bright Red and Superior White).
“That is why we can’t wait to shake-up the light car class with the all new Swift. With class-leading fuel economy and safety and its evolutionary new design, we know it will deliver the ultimate package for Australian buyers,” Devers added.
