Suzuki takes a bold step and brings their flagship Hayabusa superbike to India. Hamamatsu plans to sell CKD (complete knockdown) units of the GSX-1300R machine in India and probably in other markets in the area, but importing the CBU (completely built unit) would have yielded a price that was way too high.
It is not known whether the Hayabusa motorcycles that will be assembled at the Manesar plant using imported parts will only be sold in India, or worldwide.

The GSX-1300R Hayabusa is the first authentic superbike built by Suzuki in India, but the growth in that market over the recent years indicates that there may be a strong potential for these models.

The aggressive pricing and discounts are aimed at putting Kawasaki's ZX-14R in difficulty

The fiercest rival of the Suzuki Hayabusa is, in India and elsewhere, the Kawasaki ZX-14R, and it looks like House Hamamatsu wants to make short work of it, or, at least, try to.

Even if the debut price of the Hayabusa is significantly lower than that of the ZX-14R, Kawasaki's supersport tourer is not going to be easy prey. Akashi's bike has given the Hayabusa a run for the money on several occasions and is just as fast in many circumstances.

However, the "mojo" of the Busa may be a little bit stronger, thanks to the many tuned units that take part in drag races, legal or not, and which make the GSX-1300R more present in the online medium.

The price of the Hayabusa was already a tad lower than that of the ZX-14R, but with the new discounts, Hamamatsu's machine will be even more appealing. The price of the Hayabusa built in Manesar will be 13.57 lakh Indian rupees, and this accounts for €18,290 or $20,140, whereas the Kawasaki ZX-14R comes with a price tag reading 17.90 lakh Indian rupees, which is around $26,580 or €24,085, for scale.

When comparing the big-bore motorcycle prices in India with what we get in the in US or Europe, please be aware that India has a strong protectionist law that imposes taxes of up to 75%.
