Suzuki Recalling 280,000 Vehicles Worldwide

Recalls are a part of the contemporary automotive world, with vehicles belonging to automotive producers from all over the world being affected by this.

The latest carmaker to issue a safety campaign of this kind is Suzuki, which announced that it is recalling 90,617 units of the Swift and three other models in Japan, as well as 192,000 cars sold on overseas markets. The affected Swift models were produced between May 2007 and September 2009.

According to the company, the campaign is due to the the fact that the vehicle’s mirrors pose a safety threat. To be more precise, over time, strong vibrations could cause screws to become loose, potentially dislodging the mirrors.

Suzuki said that it has received a total of 77 complaints related to this issue. However, the company stressed the fact that no accidents have been linked to the problem.

The recall has already debuted and the owners of the affected vehicles have been asked to pay a visit to their Suzuki dealership, where the issue will be solved free of charge.

We’ll remind you that the previous incarnation of the Suzuki Swift (this is the one affected by the recall) came with an engine range comprising of three petrol units and a diesel powerplant.

The entry-level engine is a 1.3 liter petrol that delivers 92 hp and a peak torque of 117 Nm. This is followed by a 1.5l unit that comes with 102 hp and 133 Nm of torque and a 1.6 liter powerplant that has an output of 125 hp and 148 Nm. The diesel unit has a capacity of 1.3 liters, offering 69 hp and 169 Nm of torque.
