Suzuki Launches V-Strom 650 XP

The British division of Suzuki announced today a new model will be joining its V-Strom 650 adventure range this month, with the launch of the V-Strom 650 XPEDITION bike. The bike is based on the V-Strom 650 ABS model, but comes with a list of additions meant to make it tougher and more practical.

For example, the V-Strom 650 XPEDITION features hard-wearing black aluminium panniers with a total carrying capacity of 82 litres, engine and hand guards, centre-stand and an aluminium sump guard.

“The V-Strom 650 is still a hugely popular model for us, so we are delighted to be able to offer a new flagship model with tough and practical additions. On top of this, with a recommended retail price of just GBP 7,300, the XP represents exceptional value," Suzuki GB sales and marketing director, David Taylor, said in a release.

Available for GBP 7,300 in Candy Max Orange and Metallic Oort Grey colour schemes, the V-Strom 650XP will be available at nationwide dealerships shortly.

However, those looking for a more sport touring machine could go for the 2010 Suzuki GSX1250FA ST bike (GBP 7,499) introduced in the UK some two months ago. The bike is equipped with a digital fuel injection system, large intake (31mm) and exhaust (27mm) valves, Suzuki’s own nickel-phosphorous-silicon-carbide cylinder coating - to reduce piston friction - and a 6-speed gearbox.

Furthermore, it offers digital ABS as standard and an adjustable seat. A gear position indicator and shift light are also part of the functional and easy to read instrument cluster, destined to keep the rider fully informed. Also, the new ST version adds a luggage system comprising of 33 litre panniers (per side) and a 37 litre top box, which makes it even more suitable for long distance rides across the country.
