Suzuki Launches GW250 Baby B-King

Despite the fact that most fans of the Japanese motorcycle brand would have wanted a baby gixxer to come into the world, it seems like Suzuki first opted for a naked 250cc machine. Specifically, Suzuki pulled the wraps off the baby B-King motorcycle at the 2010 CIMA exhibition in China late last year.

To be marketed as Suzuki GW250, the baby B-King is packed with a two-cylinder 250cc 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine, capable of generating 26 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 4Nm (3.69 lb.ft.) of maximum torque at 7,000 rpm.

The design is similar to that of the 1300cc B-King (also called ‘the naked Busa’), only that it comes in a smaller size, with an overall weight of 180kg (397lbs).

The bike joins the herd of motorcycles models that are recommended for beginner riders, offering them the possibility of buying a bike that looks good, is fun to ride, and has a low price. Moreover, the best thing with the small-sized motorcycles is that they really hold their resale value.

The baby B-King could, however, serve as the perfect basis for the GSX-R250, if Suzuki decides to build it. That model will come as a rival for the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, or the Honda CBR250R.

Currently, Suzuki plans on selling this bike in Brazil and China, bur Visordown also hinted to rumors that indicate the GW 250 could make its way through Europe under the GSR 250 designation sometime in 2012.
