The Suzuki Jimny and Mercedes G-Class are like two peas in a pod. And by that we mean one Japanese pea that takes ten years to grow and the other one next to it that's almost free.
Ever since the new generation of the little Suzuki off-roader came out, people have been dreaming up ways to put it in the same context as the G63. They're both boxy and rugged, so some have even tried to give the Jimny a touch of luxury with a copycat body kit.

But the performance of the two can't be compared, right? I mean, one has the most basic tiny engine you can think of while the other boasts one of the best, most advanced V8s in the world.

Showing the first glimpses of lateral thinking, Carwow had three little Suzukis in a tug of war against the mighty G63. But what kind of handicap would you need for a drag race? Top Gear had that figured out today: race a Jimny against a G63 pulling another Jimny on a trailer.

This kind of setup reminds us of when Motor Trend wanted to show how insanely fast the Tesla was, so it did the same thing we see here with two Alfa Rome 4C sports cars. They took that off YouTube by the way. Hopefully, Mercedes or Suzuki don't object to what Top Gear made. Because surely, this is good marketing for both cars.

In any case, you might think that this setup gives the Jimny a fighting chance, as the AMG engine now has to pull over 3.5 tons. But that's not the case. The G63 wins this race by several car lengths. Maybe they need to add another Jimny to that trailer or put the G63 in reverse to make it fair.
