As we would expect from Suzuki, their main focus is on practicality as well as on a nice looking exterior to rival European players like the VW Polo, Ford Fiesta or Opel Corsa. As we said, this niche is overloaded and any new player must be really up for it.

Just when we thought the concept is interesting enough, we found out the name of the engine powering the prototype. It’s BOOSTERJET ladies and gentlemen, but we’ll let you laugh as much as you want as there’s no info yet on the 1.0-liter direct-injection engine.

While you do that, we should also add that the exterior of the car is based on a philosophy called Liquid Flow. Sounds better and as the name suggests, Japanese designers took the way a liquid moves and wrapped it around a low and wide body.

Regarding dimensions, the iK-2 prototype is 4,023 mm (158 in) long while the wheelbase is measuring 2,520 mm (99.2 in), so it kind of fits nicely in the B-segment pattern. Looking at it, you might have a flashback carrying the picture of a Seat Ibiza, especially seen from the front, but the overall design of the car is pleasing enough.

According to Suzuki, the iK-2 concept is underpinned by a platform designed for increased rigidity and weight reduction, which should theoretically translate into better fuel efficiency, safety, handling and stability.

Is that enough for Suzuki iK-2 to break into production under the YRA / Alivio / Ciaz nameplate, as we already reported some time ago? Too early to say, but time will tell. In the meantime, you can have a look at the concept using the photo gallery below.
