Suzuki Hayabusa Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Suzuki’s fastest production hyper sport bike, the GSX1300R, turns 10 this year, and to celebrate it, the company will hold a special event at Santa Pod Raceway on October 10 and 11. Also known as Hayabusa, the 1340cc bike was launched in 1999 and was an instant success.

Hayabusa became so popular that it still is the preferred choice of drag racers all over the world, albeit the model remained faithful to its original concept, undergoing only one major update since then.

As for its 10th anniversary event, that runs as part of the final round of the ACU and Straightliners drag championships, the riders will be given the opportunity to take part in a drag racing for £30, or to test ride numerous Suzuki models, including B-King, the ‘naked Hayabusa’.

The event will also host the final round of the UK Stunt Riding Championship with Suzuki supported rider Mattie Griffin, along with the Extreme Muscle Bike display. Attendees can participate in the ‘Run What You Brung’ classes on both days, with a special Suzuki GB trophy for riders competing on standard and mildly modified machines.

“Naturally we’re delighted to confirm this special event at Santa Pod to celebrate ten years of the Hayabusa. It’s an iconic machine that has captured the hearts of thousands of riders across the globe, and so it’s only fair we honour it in this way, while we thank those who have made it so successful,”
commented Suzuki GB marketing manager, George Cheeseman, in a statement for the press.

Admission costs £10 per day, with children under 16 free, while a weekend ticket costs £25 with camping from Friday evening provided free of charge. Unlimited track action costs £30 per day. However, participants of the test ride must bring both parts of driving license to qualify.
