Suzuki GW250 Baby B-King in India by December

The smaller, yet equally handsome brother of the 1300cc B-King, the Suzuki GW250, has made its world debut in China late last year, creating a stir among two-wheeled enthusiasts. At that point, Suzuki’s plans were to sell this bike in Brazil and China, but Europe also was planned for sometime in 2012.

Now, it appears that Indian customers will also have access to the baby B-King, as the entry-level naked sportbike is to enter Indian market by the end of this year. In terms of pricing, those looking to by the all-new GW250 will have to pay some 1.6-1.8 Lakh (about $3,500 at the current exchange rate).

While the entire specifications of the GW are not known at this point, we can tell you the Suzuki GW250 is packed with a two-cylinder 250cc 4-stroke liquid-cooled engine, that generates 26 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 4Nm (3.69 lb.ft.) torque at 7,000 rpm. Sporty elements of the 180 kg (397 lbs) bike include a digital instrument cluster and dual exhausts.

The bike joins the herd of motorcycles models that are recommended for beginner riders, offering them the possibility of buying a bike that looks good, is fun to ride, and has a low price. Moreover, the best thing with the small-sized motorcycles is that they really hold their resale value.

The main competitor of the GW250 is the CBR250R from Honda. Though the GW has a twin-cylinder unit, the power figures are very similar to the single-cylinder CBR with both the bikes producing a similar amount of power. However, for this to be a fair battle between the two Japanese motorcycle makers, Honda would have to come up with a completely new 250cc baby Hornet.
