Just like in the case of the Honda NX Dominator, one could expect rather little to come out of a machine such as the Suzuki DR650. Built as a comprehensive all-round bike, the DR650 comes with a dull look, being clearly a machine created more for functionality and less for looks.
When it comes to Varese-based Extemporae custom bike workshop, it seems like the dullness is magically washed away: after sucessfully customizing an Yamaha TT600 and an XT550 and making it into the Rider Magazine, Alex and Paolo, the guys behind Extemporae, knew it was time for another interesting project.

They revised the DR650's frame as it was supposed to receive a retro Yamaha 400 fuel tank for a classic look. The rear was also modified to lower the bike and accommodate a custom seat. Extemporae also provided a custom oil radiator and the exhaust, while new fenders were loaded in the front and back. A '70's dirt track racer provided the handlebars and a new pod filter allowed the bike to breathe better.

Extemporae's DR650 will not turn as many heads as a top-notch CB550 cafe-racer, but considering how far is the original Suzuki and the new custom, we cannot help congratulate the builders. Via BikeEXIF.
