No more Suzuki motorcycles built in Spain, the dream is now over: Suzuki has unfortunately shut down their production facility in Gijon, northern Spain, the place of origin for no less than 9 models, sending 200 workers home.
Suzuki used to build the GZ 125, Maurader 250, Burgman 125, Burgman 200, UX 125, 150 Sixteen, DR 125 SM, GS500 and GS500F machines in Gijon and they were selling in European markets and other countries, as well.
It's hard times for Suzuki, as Bloomberg reports that the manufacturer, which is already shutting down 98 US dealerships with extremely poor efficiency, needs some additional $45 million (35 mil) for this move only.
Suzuki adds that owners of the models no longer produced in Spain need not worry as parts will be supplied from other plants to reach all dealerships. Suzuki Spain has already built the last motorcycle on March 27, and the operations will cease at the end of March.
