Sutil Wants to Extend Force India Stay for 2011

Recently, plenty of rumors have circulated in the media this season about Adrian Sutil's imminent departure from Force India-Mercedes. After 5 years spent with the Silverstone based team, the German must want more from his F1 career that just settle for points finishes, argued the critics. However, things changed pretty quickly within the last few weeks, as the majority of the big teams have already confirmed their lineups for 2011.

With Ferrari, McLaren Mercedes, Red Bull Racing and Mercedes GP all covered for the upcoming season, Sutil's best option lies with either his current team or, at the best, Renault. However, as the Enstone team is pushing hard to secure Robert Kubica for the long run – therefore sending a clear message on who they'll back in their lineup – Sutil's departure from Force India would have no sense.

Asked about his future plans in the series, Sutil confirmed the same thing, which is Force India looks like the best option for him for at least one more year.

I want to have a great car and the better car than Force India is not available at the moment. Plus I have the advantage to know all the people. (...) I don't need to get used to everything new, I think that's an advantage. I just feel good here. At the moment I don't think about changing anything so I would be happy to stay another year here,” said Sutil prior to this weekend's British GP.

Having secured 5 consecutive point-finishing starts this season (and 6 out of 9), Sutil is placed 10th in the overall classification and seems to be in pole position to keep his seat within Force India for an additional year. Vitantonio Liuzzi also made some great outings for his team this year and, if this trend is kept until the end of the season, we imagine it's going to be a tough decision for Vijay Mallya to set his lineup for 2011.

Young Scottish driver Paul di Resta is knocking on Force India's doors for 2011 and admitted he will push hard for a race seat, which makes the competition between these three drivers tougher than ever.
